Powder Coatings

Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. Unlike conventional liquid paint which is delivered via an evaporating solvent, powder coating is typically applied electrostatically and then cured under heat or with ultraviolet light. The powder may be a thermoplastic or a thermoset polymer. It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint.

Thermoset & Thermoplastic Coatings

A thermoset coating is a protective covering substance made up of lines of polymers that are highly cross-linked linked by strong chemical bonds, and are used to create thin protective layers on metallic surfaces. Thermosetting coatings are resistant to higher temperatures than ordinary thermoplastics.
Whilst a thermoset coating is usually a decorative, thin film coating, thermoplastic coatings are functional coatings with the main following features: One-layer system. Thick film coating, starting from 300 µm. Flexible. Extremely tough and resilient to mechanical and chemical stress.

3M™ Scotchkote™ Fusion-Bonded Epoxy Coating 134

3M™ Scotchkote™ Fusion-Bonded Epoxy Coating 134 is a one part, heat curable epoxy coating that can be custom applied to protect pipelines (external and internal) and a variety of infrastructure components from corrosion.The epoxy is applied to preheated steel as a dry powder which melts and cures to a uniform coating thickness. This bonding process provides excellent adhesion and coverage on applications such as valves, pumps, pipe drains, hydrants and porous castings. Scotchkote Coating 134 is resistant to wastewater, corrosive soils, hydrocarbons, harsh chemicals, and sea water. Powder properties allow easy manual or automatic application by electrostatic or air-spray equipment.
